Your first workflow
MarkdownOpen in ClaudeOpen in ChatGPT
At the end, you have watched a workflow run on your own code: who worked it, every word each step was sent, every word it said back, and the pull request at the end.
At a glance
Time: 10 minutes, mostly watching.
What you need:
- Loopgate open, on your laptop or your team's runner
- One coding tool signed in on Settings → Engines
- A workspace added, a repository of yours
How it works
A task is one thing you want done, in your words. A workflow is who does it and in what order: agent steps that write, checks that run a command, gates where a person decides, loops that go round a bounded number of times, and a pull request at the end. Everything you start is a run of a workflow; one agent alone is a workflow of one step.
Before anything runs, the draft card shows who works it, the task as the steps will get it, and one sentence of setup: the model and thinking level, the access, the rounds, the spending limit. Every value opens its choices. Nothing is hidden: every word a step will be sent is one click away.
The run is a conversation. On the right, in your colour, what each step was sent, with a Loopgate flag; on the left, what it said back; a band for each round; a card for each decision that waits for you. A step with Workspace access commits its work on a branch of its own, in a worktree beside your repository, never inside it.
Try it
On Tasks, type what you want done, such as "Add a README that explains how to run this project", and leave Who on Auto.
You should see: the copilot's proposal under your words: a workflow or an agent, with the task row, the steps and the setup sentence.
Click a step's name on the card to see its engine, access, persona and instructions, and See every word to read the whole message it will be sent.
Press Start.
You should see: the card fold to a receipt, then the run's conversation: the first step's message on the right, its reply on the left as it works, and the Workflow card with each step lit as it runs.
Wait for the finish line, or for a card that waits for you: an approval, a choice, a question. Answer it where it is asked.
Press Open pull request in the header once a step has committed.
You should see: a draft pull request on GitHub whose description lists the workflow, the task, the steps whose commits the branch holds, the checks and the cost.
Check
Open the finished step's reply and press Full screen: its whole message, which is also the file the next step was handed. Press Worked under it to see every tool call it made.
